Resources for Ecology Education * Fair & Share(REEFS)
ESA’s Office of Education and Diversity Programs is pleased to announce Resources for Ecology Education * Share & Fair (REEFS), a new undergraduate teaching session to debut at the 2008 Annual Meeting in Milwaukee. During this informal lunchtime session, undergraduate faculty will present activities they have developed to engage undergraduate students in lecture, laboratory, or in the field. REEFS is a free session that will be held during the lunch break (11:30-1:15) on Tuesday, August 5.
REEFS will include several rounds of concurrent presentations by faculty who will each bring a lab, lecture, or field activity to share with other attendees. REEFS is an opportunity for faculty to share what they’ve developed with colleagues and receive friendly input and suggestions on how to further develop the activities to incorporate student-active methods. The document that presenters will share during the session will provide more details about the activity, such as: learning objectives, timeframe, core ecological concepts addressed, instructor version (materials, procedure, any other necessary information), and student version (instructions and handouts, if applicable).
Abstracts for presentations will be accepted until June 13, 2008. Faculty who submit abstracts will be notified of acceptance by mid-June.
